Employ Veteran and Military Candidates: Jobs for Veterans State Grant
This informative session will provide insight on the JVSG Program (Jobs for Veterans State Grant), Home Base Iowa, Iowa Workforce Development, Deciphering a Military Resume, and Military Occupations and Jargon to help you navigate recruitment, hiring, onboarding, employment, and retention of military and veteran candidates.
Rick Honeycutt, a retired U.S. Army veteran, served for 21½ years of active duty as a Military Policeman specializing in training and handling military working dogs. It’s been an honor for him to serve and he is now honored to serve businesses and veterans in the local community.
Rick is your local Veteran Employment Representative for Iowa Workforce Development, serving the western third of Iowa, including at the Spencer, Sioux City, Denison, Council Bluffs and Creston Iowa Workforce Development Offices. He is available there to work with employers to reach their employment goals.
Mr. Honeycutt is responsible for outreach to employers and business associations and engagement in advocacy efforts with hiring managers and human resource professionals to increase employment opportunities for veterans and encourage the hiring of disabled veterans. He plans and assists in participation in career fairs; coordinates with unions, apprenticeship programs and businesses or business organizations to promote and secure employment and training programs for veterans; provides targeted referral to employers and job openings; and assists with posting job orders with IowaWORKS.
